London Design Festival Collaboration at the V&A

‘Mise-en-abyme’, will be unveiled on the opening day of the London Design Festival 2015 (19 to the 27 September) on the bridge over the Medieval and Renaissance galleries at the V&A.
Laetitia and Matteo explained: “What we wanted from the start was to create an experiment. Something that was not just a piece of design to look at but also an experience for the visitor. We tried to match the work with the materials, themes and colours at the location and so took our inspiration from the V&A itself.”
The piece is being produced using bespoke, handcrafted floor tiling teamed with huge transparent acrylic shapes that visitors can walk through. The pale pastel colours above will compliment a 3% colour gradiant on the tiles below to create a changing sense of perspective when travelling from one end of the bridge to the other. This almost floating effect will partner beautifully with the natural light, themes and materals in the surrounding displays of the museum.
Creative Director Darren Clanford commented “We love to support new creative talent for the London Design Festival and we’re excited to collaborate with Laetitia and Matteo on our most ambitious piece yet and we can't wait for everyone to see it.”
