Bespoke waterjet cut designs transform Johnson Tiles’ Prismatics

Peter Noyce, Managing Director of Southside Waterjet, said of the inspiration for the project: “With the Prismatics range we tried to create abstract bespoke pieces that display the range of colours and how they interact with each other, and also how waterjet technology can be used to create interesting and unique designs for architectural surfaces.”

Explore the designs, which range from psychedelia to futurism.

The inspiration came from a need to use waterjet cutting, for its precision, on some Johnsons Tiles’ products being used for a major project in London.

As a result, it became clear that this was a much more creative way to present products to the A&D ‎community, to illustrate the extensive capabilities of ceramic and porcelain tiles.

The waterjet process involves a high velocity stream of sand suspended into a flow of ultra high-pressure water, produced by an intensifier pump. As well as being efficient, the process is also eco-friendly, with water being recycled throughout.

In these particular designs, our contemporary Prismatics range is given an artistic twist, turning the bold tiles into stunning works of art.
